Ladies' County Merit

NICOLA Boulton won the county merit, beating Paula Gamon 21-5 in the final.

Four qualifiers go on to represent Mid Cheshire in the Ladies Senior Merit - Nicola Boulton, Paula Gammon, Samantha Murry, Sue Worrall.

Men’s Senior Cheshire Merit Final

The competition starts at 9.30am at Crewe Bowling Club on Saturday.

Some good news in the County Championship this month, an incredible bounce back after defeat by Yorkshire.

A stunning home result at Swettenham, backed up by the away team ending up only three chalks behind.

Cheshire won the overall match 451-367.

Mid Cheshire Federation

Mid Cheshire Federation will have their second game of the season against Furness on Sunday.

The home game will be at Wharton Bowls Club, starting at 2pm. As always support would be appreciated.

This week could not be anything else in terms of the feature match, Wharton Bowls Club A v Castle Sports A.

Over the last few years Wharton have been bringing players in to slowly strengthen their first team, and if Friday night’s result is anything to go by it could just be working.

To put this into context last year Wharton won their home game to castle by two.

This time Wharton BC A triumphed 200-141. This sweeps Wharton to the top of the table and moves Castle Sports A to third. Best result was Wharton bowler Sean Yearsley 21-6.

Victoria A eased into third place, winning their home match against Kingswood BC 201-134. Best result was Victoria bowler Matt Barnett, 21-4.

Rudheath Bowls A played at home to Comberbach A. The home side had a better night with six winners winning the match 188-49. Rudheath bowlers Chris Cooper and Pete Illidge shared the best win, 21-4.

Barnton CC A made the journey to play at Shavington A and came away with four winners but it was the home side that won the match 186-153. Best win was Shavington’s Kevin Saywell, 21-4.

Castle Sports B had five winners in their home match against Crewe PO. It was the away team who won the match though, 164-175. Crewe’s Paul Phillips had the best win 21-5.

Frodsham Red Lion A visited Owley Wood A and came away with seven winners in a 153-178 victory. Frodsham bowler Sue Worrall had best win 21-4.

Section One

Barnton CC B played at home against Wharton Bowls Club B. Both teams had five winners but it was the home side that took the match 182-155. Paul Lightfoot for Barnton had the best win 21-6.

Owley Wood B had a good win at Rudheath B 175-190, recording seven winners in the process. It was Rudheath bowler David Hulme that had the best win, 21-11.

Frodsham Red Lion B made good use of their home advantage, beating Victoria B 185-114. Frodsham bowler Patrick Richardson was the best winner, 21-4.

Comberbach B had a home game against Crosstown, coming out on top 176-150. Crosstown bowler Sophie Riley had the best win, 21-3.

Meadowbank A had seven winners in their home 195-175 home win against Castle Sports D, with Ben Dickinson returning the best card, 21-11.

Section Two

Kelsall sit atop Section Two after a home win against Fern Villa BC A.

The home side had nine winners in their 205-138 success. Kelsall bowler Graham Stubbs had the best win, 21-6.

Middlewich RBL A, in second place, had a home win against Owley Wood C 203-181. Middlewich bowler Larry Buckley was the best winner, 21-14.

Helsby B had eight winners in their home game against Davenham A, beating the visitors 197-122. Helsby bowler Nigel Parker had the best win, 21-6.

Sandbach Park played at home against Comberbach C, winning 187-156 and their bowler Alex Banks had the best win, 21-6.

Davenham B had a home game against Tarporley A with both teams having five winners. The final score was 174-174, with Davenham bowler Alison Duncalf having the best win, 21-6.

Section Three

Owley Wood D had a home game against Shavington B. It was a close match with Shavington just winning 169-171.

Crowton had eight winners in their 204-149 home win against Winnington B. Crowton bowler Tom Mills had the best result, 21-6.

Cuddington’s eight winners steered them to a 199-125 home win against Tarporley B. Cuddington bowler Yannis Valavanis had the best win, 21-3.

Winnington A had a home game against Wharton Rec A, clocking up seven winners to their opponents’ three as they got over the line 191-145. Winnington bowler Eric Finley had the best win, 21-6.

Delamere had seven winners in their home victory against Meadowbank B. The home side won 189-151. Delamere bowler Lawrence Doogan had the best win, 21-6.

Fern Villa BC B hosted Barnton CC C and with seven winners put themselves out of reach, 184-158. Barnton bowler Kath Johnson that got the best win 21-4.

Section Four

Davenham D played at home against Norley. The away side had six winners in a 142-156 victory. Davenham bowler Jeff Brookes was the best winner, 21-2.

Hartford B had a home game against Castle Sports E. Both teams had five winners but Hartford came out on top, winning 174-157. Hartford bowler John Bebbington had the best win, 21-6.

Comberbach D were beaten at home 152-184 by Hartford A, who had seven winners. Comberbach bowler Bryan Jackson and Hartford bowler Graham Earl shared the best win, 21-7

Barnton CC D had a home win against Davenham C 187-154. Barnton bowler George Taylor had the best win, 21-7.

Owley Wood E had a close game at home to Rudheath Bowls C. Both teams had five wins but it was Rudheath that got the win 177-181. Owley bowler Irene Smith had the best win 21-5.

Moulton RBL B had a home win against Sandbach Park B. Both sides had five winners but the home side took the win 175-155. Moulton Bowler Danny Shaw had the best win, 21-6.
