WINNINGTON Park Hockey Club have a new home – one which is planned to take on a whole new look in the years to come.
The hockey club’s arrival at Moss Farm, in a new partnership with Northwich Rugby Club, strengthens the venue’s position as a key site for community sport and development.
A statement issued on both clubs’ websites states: “The agreement is hoped to be the start of a long-term partnership between the two organisations.
“Winnington Park Hockey Club and Northwich Rugby Union Football Club have combined histories of over 180 years in the town.
“This is a strong relationship with longevity in mind, which will benefit the clubs, the venue and the wider community."
The statement continues: “The Venue at Moss Farm is nestled in the heart of a thriving multi-sport complex, a community sports hub locally known as the home of Northwich Rugby.
“There are longer-term plans in place to further develop the site with the installation of new changing facilities for players and officials and development of the car parks and clubhouse is also in proposition.”
Investment in relaying the Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) at Moss Farm, gave opportunity for Winnington Park, who lost their previous home when Winnington Park Recreation Club closed last year, to return to the complex to train and play fixtures.
Following a season enjoying after-match catering and the welcome hospitality provided by “The Venue”, Winnington Park have now officially committed to their new home.
“Both clubs are passionate about providing vital provision to play sport, highlighting the importance of physical activity and also giving people of all ages opportunities to play rugby and hockey,” says the statement.
