NORTHWICH Victoria have brought Harvey Whyte home and extended the contract of the fans’ 2025/26 player of the season.
Midfielder Whyte will be back in a Trickies shirt for a third spell next season having committed to his hometown club for the new campaign.
In his first stint under Steve Wilkes, he was a crucial part of Vics’ 2019 FA Vase semi-final run.
Following spells with Warrington Rylands and Wythenshawe Town, Whyte returned to Northwich in 2022 before moving on to Ramsbottom United where he reunited with Wilkes.
He was a key player in a campaign which saw Ramsbottom narrowly miss out on promotion, as was the case for Vics who fell at the final hurdle but will target a rise to the Northern Premier League again next term.
Manager Lee Duckworth said: "Harvey is a player I’ve admired for a long time.
"He has a wealth of quality to go with the hard work he puts in.
“Industrious and creative, he will be a huge player for us this season and I’m delighted to get him secured so early. I’m sure it’s one the supporters will enjoy."
Whyte said: "When Lee called me and asked me if I would be interested in signing next season, it was a no-brainer for me.
"I’m looking forward to meeting up with the lads and seeing the fans again. I’m really excited to be back where it all started, and hopefully we can go that one step further this year and get promotion."
Meanwhile, midfielder Will Lloyd has signed a one-year contract extension.
Northwich Victoria are thrilled to announce that industrious central midfielder Will Lloyd has committed his future to the Trickies by signing a one-year contract extension.
Since arriving at the U Lock It Stadium from Stone Old Alleynians in 2024, Lloyd has established himself as a massive fan favourite over his 88 appearances, leading to him sweeping up the supporters’ player of the year award twice in succession, alongside two players’ player of the year trophy wins.
Duckworth said: "He’s turned down offers higher up the pyramid to stay here as he has a huge affinity with the club and the supporters.
“He was one of the first phone calls we made at the end of the season as he’s vital to what we want to do as we look to build on last season."
Lloyd said: "Since the moment I arrived, I’ve felt nothing but support from the fans, teammates and staff. I’ve loved every minute so far and I’m grateful for the trust shown in me.
“There’s still so much more I want to achieve here and I’m looking forward to what’s ahead together."
