YOUTH sport teams are being recognised for special achievements during the 2025/26 season.
Davenham Rangers under 13s football team have won the Warrington Junior Football League Alf Holt Cup.
They defeated Earlestown Athletic Thistle 2-1 in the final played at Vulcan Sports Club.
Isaac Lewis netted a penalty and the winning goal was scored by Harry Lister, while George Stott was player of the match.
The team are on course for the double.
A win or draw against fourth-placed Woolston Rovers Royals on May 16 would see them crowned champions of Division Four.
They are yet to lose in the league this season, having won 18 matches and drawn once.
Meanwhile, Winnington Park Rugby Club under 13s are celebrating winning the Cheshire Cup.
They defeated Chester in the final by five tries to one, delivering an outstanding performance in the process.
Brilliant play, great spirit and true rugby values were on display from the team throughout, backed by fantastic support from their coaches, parents, family and friends.
They showed great character to reach the final.
Park overcame a huge challenge in the semi-final in the shape of Birkenhead Park, who were unbeaten all season.
It was a hard-fought, closely contested match, with Winnington trailing 5-3 at half-time.
But the team showed great determination in the second half, pulling together to turn it around and secure an 8-5 success.
Winnington Park added another piece of silverware at the weekend by winning a North Wales tournament.
