NORTHWICH Victoria have been forced into giving up home advantage in their play-off semi-final.
A perk of finishing second in Midland League Premier Division table is being at home in the semi-finals as the heat turns up on the bid for promotion.
But instead of hosting fifth-placed AFC Wolverhampton City at Runcorn Linnets' Apec Taxis Stadium, where Vics are in the first year of a tenancy agreement, instead they will have to travel down the M6 to the midlands-based club on Saturday.
When The Trickies played at Wolverhampton's ground in the league on March 21, they were beaten 1-0.
"We can confirm that next week’s play‑off semi‑final has been reversed and will now be played in Wolverhampton," says a Vics statement.
"This is due to a clash on the original scheduled date and time, with Runcorn Linnets who are also at home that day, and despite offering a number of alternative dates and times, Wolverhampton were unable to play on the alternative dates proposed by Northwich Victoria.
"As a result, and following instruction from the Midland Premier League, the fixture has been switched to the home ground of AFC Wolverhampton, with the fifth‑placed team therefore being awarded home advantage.
"While the club is extremely disappointed with this outcome, our full focus now turns to the task ahead.
"We urge all supporters to travel in numbers and get behind the lads as we push for a place in the final — your support could make all the difference.
"Two supporters' coaches have been made available so please reserve your seat with the club and come and support the boys."
