BARNTON under 13s are preparing to take their footballing talents overseas this Easter as they travel to Amsterdam to compete in the prestigious Holland Cup.
The trip marks a major milestone for the team, who are now coming to the end of their seventh season playing together.
Over the years, the squad have developed into a close knit and determined group, something that continues to show in their performances on the pitch.
Currently battling to finish top of Division Two in the Mid Cheshire Youth Football League, Barnton have enjoyed an impressive campaign.
Under the leadership of captain Louie Whittaker, the team has gone from strength to strength, with Charlie Howarth and Lucas Smith as current leading scorers.
Looking to build on tournament success at Crewe Town last summer, now, the boys will have the opportunity to represent Barnton on a European stage, taking on teams from across Holland, Germany, Belgium and beyond.
Manager Greg Marshall is relishing the opportunity.
He said: “It’s really exciting to be taking the team over to Amsterdam.
“They are a great group of lads with a fantastic work ethic and incredible team spirit - a genuine pleasure to lead.
“Hopefully we can come back with a trophy!”
With good form, proven success, and a strong squad, Barnton will head into the Holland Cup full of confidence.
