WINNINGTON Park bagged their ninth win of the season at home to fourth-placed Douglas.

Amending the loss away to the Isle of Man side in October, gritty Park got over the line 24-19 in their Regional 2 North West clash at Burrows Hill.

Park, who stayed seventh on the ladder, got their noses in front late in the first half and never trailed again.

They never managed to put themselves out of reach though and the game was always in the balance.

The Manxmen were 7-0 ahead within five minutes after touching down from a kick.

Will Du Randt was involved in the build-up of a short-side move which he finished off to level matters.

Douglas edged ahead with a penalty but captain Dan Williams got over for the 35th-minute try that handed Park a lead they never lost.

A Cameron Flanagan penalty extended Park’s leads to 17-10 by the break.

That lead was cut to one point courtesy of two Douglas penalties in the opening quarter of an hour in the second period.

Joel Gaidan powered over to score Park’s next try and Flanagan’s conversion gave Park an eight-point buffer at 24-16.

Douglas kicked a 70th-minute penalty to close the gap to five points but it was as close as they got.

Park: Will Du Randt, Lewis Owens, Joseph Rowland, Jack Williams, Alex De Keyzer, Cameron Flanagan, Harry Sheard, Eli Fakailoatonga, Dan Williams (Captain), Robin Lowndes, Johdell Akua, Phil Lynch, Conor Lapniewski, Tom King, Joel Gaidan, Ross Morrin, Harry Dodd and Teddie McCaffery
