TALENTED young cricketers looking to improve their game could benefit from a new programme this winter.
Designed to help players bridge the gap from junior to senior cricket and prepare for county age-group selection, the sessions for 14 to 18-year-olds combine quality coaching with exclusive masterclasses from professional and international players and coaches.
It is open to cricketers across the county and is being run by the Cheshire Performance Academy, which has been developed through a partnership between Mobberley Cricket Club and Cricket Mind Online.
The programme is headed up by Nathan Wood, ex-Lancashire and former head of coach development for England Cricket, and is supported by a team of ECB-qualified coaches, including ex-Cheshire player Paddy Ashling.
Each block of sessions also features specialist coaching led by former international players, including:
Glen Chapple – former Lancashire captain, England international, and current Northern Superchargers coach
Stephen Parry – former Lancashire and England spinner, now coaching at professional level
Luke McCoy – current Cheshire CCC batter and Cheshire Youth coach
Weekly one-hour sessions will run in blocks at Wilmslow High School Indoor Cricket Centre.
Block one is locked in for Tuesdays, January 13 to 17th February 17, 2026, while block two is fixed for Tuesdays, March 3 to April 7, 2026.
Each session will start at 6pm, with blocks limited to 20 players.
One block of six sessions costs £17.50 per session, £105 in total.
Alternatively, signing up for both blocks of 12 sessions will cost £15 per session, £180 in total.
