IT was certainly quite the weekend for a talented family of archers.

Leigh Hadfield and his daughter Amelia – both members of the Winnington Park Bowmen club – competed in separate competitions across the weekend, and both came home with trophies.

Amelia was making her debut at the Cheshire County junior shoot and came away as county champion in the under 12s compound category.

Her high scoring round also saw her awarded a Cheshire cat badge – awarded in stages dependent on an archer’s score – to complete a perfect introduction to county-level shooting.

His score was tied with two other archers but Hadfield was victorious having shot more 10s than his rivals, including one with his final arrow of the tournament.

It promises to be a busy month for Winnington Park Bowmen, with four of their members currently gearing up to represent Cheshire at the National County Championships at the end of September.
