HARRY Kell was squeezed out of first place in the Cheshire Boys Championships.

The Sandiway Golf Club junior’s four-under-par 68 left him tied with his county teammate, Eaton’s Laurent Beech, after the first round on a challenging course at Delamere Forest Golf Club.

The pair were the only two players to beat par in the second round, Beech repeating his -4 feat while Kell returned to the clubhouse on -2 to seal second place out of the 70-strong field.

Josh Hockenhull (Prestbury) was in third spot on +2 from Dean Lenehan (Styal) +3.

The best net score for the two rounds was posted by Leo Monks (Sandiway) ahead of Alfie Ogden (Wallasey) -8 and Kell -6.
