Qualifying brought 30 pairs hoping to make the final evening.

West Kirby Victoria lost to Houldsworth WMC in the second semi-final.
Mid Cheshire League:
Castle Sports A stayed in first place in the premier after winning at fourth-placed Crewe PO 171-182.
Both Wharton Cons and Frodsham Red Lion drew closer to Castle.
This is as a result of Wharton Cons A, in third place, having a great home win against Owley Wood A 208-133; while Frodsham, in second spot, had a strong win at Helsby A 142-192. Frodsham are now only 13 points behind the top spot.
Fifth-placed Rudheath Bowls lost at Castle Sports B 179-165, while sixth-placed Comberbach A had a good home win against Victoria B 203-148.
Owley Wood B had a close home game against Shavington A, just winning 176-172.
In Section One, Victoria A won a great home game against Barnton CC A. It was first versus second, and it was Victoria who went more than 300 points ahead of second thanks to winning 204-129.
The fight for second place and promotion is hotting up as third-placed Kingswood A lost at Castle Sports C 192-163.
Meadowbank, in fourth, placed pressure on the second and third-placed sides by winning at home to Rudheath B 188-145.
Fifth-placed Frodsham Red Lion B dropped one point at home to Wharton cons B, winning 209-105.
Crosstown A lost a very close away at Middlewich RBL A, 179-174.
Moulton RBL hold on to the top spot in Section Two despite winning a close home game to ninth place Middlewich RBL B 179-168.
Barnton CC B moved closer to top spot with a home win against Helsby B 202-122.
Sandbach Park A had a great home win against Winsford B that moved them up to third 210-102.
Fourth-placed Castle Sports D had a great win at fifth-placed Winsford Cons A 159-186.
Davenham A, in sixth, had a good win at Shavington B 165-181.
Seventh-placed Kelsall lost at home to eighth-placed Lostock Graylams 166-191.
Section Three leaders Comberbach C hold on to top spot despite losing at Hartford A, 180-172.
Comberbach, though, are walking away with the section being 39 ahead of second place with a game in hand over the top six.
Second-placed Davenham B had a home win against Owley Wood D, who are in seventh place but with a game in hand, 183-167.
Third-place Wharton Rec A, in third, had a close home win against Crowton 173-145.
Fourth-placed Winnington A had a home win against Tarporley B 185-172.
Owley Wood C had a convincing home win against Barnton CC C 204-140.
In Section Four, Cuddington, in first place, lost at Davenham C. While it was a very close game, I doubt either side was happy with their score 161-159.
Second-placed Winnington B tied their away game against Owley Wood E with both teams scoring 170.
Third-placed Rudheath Bowls C had a full house at home to Davenham D 210-103.
Fifth-placed Castle Sports E had a home win against Norley A, beating the visitors 175-140.
Sixth-placed Barnton CC had a home win against Hartford B 177-141, while Comberbach D, in seventh place, had a home win against Moulton RBL B 186-141.
Mid Cheshire Ladies:
Division One leaders Red Lion continued their push towards another title after winning their match at Davenham 102-154.
Red Lion are only five victories away from having back-to-back unbeaten seasons.
Castle, in second place, lost at Barnton A 146-138.
Fourth-placed Winnington Ladies had a good home win against Rudheath SSC 158-93.
Fifth-placed Norley lost at Lady Owls 125-116, while seventh-placed Bunbury had a good home win against Barnton B 161-124.
In Division Two, top-of-the-table Barrow had a great win at Crowton 98-160.
Second-placed Moulton had a home win against Lady Owls B 151-87.
Fourth-placed Bostock won at home against Rode Heath 137-103, while Hartford had a home win against Cuddington 143-106.
Mid Cheshire Ladies County:
This Sunday sees their continuation of their County games, with their semi-final match against Burton & District. The home tie will be at Castle Sports. All support will be welcome at Castle so come and shout them on.
