A TOUCH and walking rugby tournament staged at Northwich Rugby Club went down a storm with competitors and spectators alike.
The event focused on sportsmanship, community spirit, bringing clubs together and tough competition.
Moore Rugby Club, near Warrington, participated, as did recently formed in Northwich the Nomads netball team, whose members created the Nomads mixed rugby team.
A lot of quality rugby was on show, perhaps inspired from time spent in the clubhouse earlier in the day watching the British and Irish Lions roar to a Test win against Australia.
The tournament format was adapted.
With the touch and walking teams combined in the group stages, when facing a walking team the rules reverted to the walking set.
The final of the touch tournament was contested between Doe I Dear and The Stags, with the former running out 3-2 winners.
The walking final was between Northwich Walking and Moore Walking, with the visitors being the eventual worthy winners 3-1.
