VETERAN George Abbott has had his sights on the Mid Cheshire Table Tennis League men’s singles title for many years and he is finally able to celebrate.
Numerous appearances in the final did not go George’s way but in this year’s decider he defeated his Wreckers 1 clubmate Will Berkley.
For Abbott, it topped a campaign in which his team won the Division One title for a fourth year running, with Tigers finishing as runners-up.
He tasted doubles success on the night too (see all the results below).
The league’s Championships Finals Night was played at Winnington Park Recreation Club, followed by the presentation of league and individual trophies.
A high standard of table tennis was on show, with another highlight being the clash for the Junior Singles title between Freddie White and Raphael Wong, with White coming out on top.
The League Division Two honours were secured by Labrats, who were beaten by Wreckers 2 in the final of the Mike Johns Knockout.
