IT is now six wins out of six for 1874 Northwich in the Midland Football League Premier Division.
Tuesday evening saw them make the trip to Uttoxeter Town, and Chris Herbert’s side came home with a 4-2 victory to extend their perfect start to the league campaign.
Joel Jones and Matt Woolley struck to put the visitors in control before the half-hour mark, but Haydn Brown then halved the deficit for the hosts just before the break.
Scott McGowan eased any nerves by restoring 74’s two-goal lead just after the break, but Uttoxeter refused to lie down and Kieran Wild’s penalty set up a nervy final 20 minutes.
However, the visitors saw out the danger and added an exclamation point when player-coach Mark Reed fired in the fourth goal in injury time.
Now, Greens turn their attention back to the FA Cup and their second qualifying round trip to Guiseley on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Witton Albion suffered a second home defeat inside four days as they were beaten 1-0 by Vauxhall Motors in the Northern Premier League West Division.
After a goalless first half, Josh Quarless’ strike just two minutes after the restart proved to be decisive as Witton slipped to back-to-back losses after Saturday’s FA Trophy exit at the hands of Bradford Park Avenue.
Ben Harrison’s side are also in FA Cup second qualifying round action on Saturday as they visit Crook Town.
Elsewhere, Winsford United went goal-crazy in the Edward Case Cup as they thrashed Market Drayton Town 7-0 at Barton Stadium.
Jack Woolley netted a second-half hat-trick for Blues, with Matty Birchall scoring twice while Blake Robinson and Saem Son were also on the scoresheet.
It is back to league matters for Winsford on Saturday as they host Runcorn Town in the North West Counties League First Division South.
Northwich Victoria are scheduled for league action tonight as they welcome Stone Old Alleynians to Barton Stadium in the Midland Football League Premier Division.
At the weekend, Matt Barnes’ side are on the road as they visit Stourport Swifts on Saturday.
