ONE of the fastest women on the course at Sunday’s London Marathon was a Cheshire Dragons runner.

Indeed, Luisa Candioli’s performance was close to that of some of the elite runners competing in the capital.

Candioli, who lives in Warrington but competes for the Northwich-based club, completed one of British sport’s most iconic events in a staggering time of 2hours 47mins 46secs – a new personal-best time.

Indeed, her time was the 38th fastest among the nearly 23,000 women who were listed in the mass start for the event and was only three minutes slower than those finishing at the back of the elite field.

Her previous best time over the 26.2-mile marathon distance is listed as 2hours 51mins 33secs, set at the 2021 Manchester Marathon.
