NORTHWICH Victoria Football Club have a new chairman.

Secretary Ian Egerton was voted into the role at the club's annual meeting, where Brian Turner stepped down after five years at the helm.

Egerton is to continue with the secretarial duties, too, until a suitable replacement is found.

Turner has accepted a new position with the club.

A Vics statement reads: "Brian has led the club through the first five years of being a fan-run club, and has been a fantastic leader getting the club back to a great place of security and at the heart of Northwich.

"Brian, however, isn't completely walking away and has agreed to become our joint president, alongside Chris Nuttall.

"Brian will continue to represent Northwich Victoria Football Club in this capacity.

"The club will always be extremely thankful for all the hard work that Brian has done, and are delighted he will remain with the club in the president role."

The statement continues: "Following Brian's retirement, Ian Egerton was voted in as the new chairman of Northwich Victoria FC and while being extremely proud to have been given this honour, hopes to continue the fantastic work that all the fans and committee have done over the past five years.

"Ian was quoted saying "This is a very proud moment after following Northwich all my life, and I am looking forward to working with the new Committee and fans to make the club grow even stronger in the years ahead."

"Ian will also (for now) continue with the secretary duties for Northwich Victoria before a new suitable secretary can be found."
