SILVERWARE will be up for grabs next Wednesday.

Northwich Victoria and Winsford United will square up in the Mid Cheshire District FA Senior Cup Final.

The decider will be staged at Witton Albion’s U Lock It Stadium - where Vics are tenants - with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Holders Winsford booked their place in the final with a 3-0 success over Witton on November 22.

Vics secured their passage with a 6-1 burial of Barnton on January 4.

Steve Wilkes’ side hold the bragging rights from the season’s league meetings.

Vics were 2-0 winners when the teams last met at the U Lock It Stadium on February 11, while they drew 1-1 at Barton Stadium on August 15.

A constant in those two games was Ryan Jackson netting in each.

Before the final, Vics, who lost 2-1 at home to Longridge Town on Wednesday, visit table toppers Avro on Saturday.

Their hopes of challenging for promotion are fading fast after a draw with Isle of Man on Saturday and a loss to Litherland REMYCA last week.

They remain fourth in the North West Counties League Premier Division, four points behind Vauxhall Motors in the crucial second spot, but the teams around them have games in hand.

Fourteenth-placed Winsford, whose midweek visit to Charnock Richard was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, head to West Didsbury & Chorlton on Saturday.

And of course the area’s other sides will be in action at the weekend too.

Northern Premier League West play-offs hopefuls Witton Albion will be looking to continue some good form at home to Trafford on Saturday, while in the same league 1874 Northwich, who have registered Nyle Ellis and Matthew Liptrott with the league deadline looming, will be on the road against Glossop North End.

Barnton host Cheadle Town on Saturday and then Abbey Hulton United on Wednesday.
