A comfortable victory for the Vics which never looked in doubt after an early penalty.

Vics got off to the best possible start in this top 6 clash.

In the 2nd minute, a ball was played into the feet of Kuda Chingwaro in the penalty area and when he turned he was promptly brought down by a Liverpool defender, leaving the referee with hesitation in pointing to the penalty spot.

Chingwaro stepped up himself to take it and confidently smashed it into the net.

AFC Liverpool had a shot saved by Chris Cheetham but generally Vics were having the better of the play and they nearly extended their lead in the 15th minute as Matt Dudley was brought down just outside the area and the resultant free kick was drilled just wide by Ryan Jackson.

It wasn't long though before the 2nd goal arrived.

Chingwaro floated a lovely ball across the area to Ryan Jackson who took a touch and fired a shot in which got a deflection to take it past McGovern in the Liverpool net.

Vics were playing some lovely football now, and went close again in the 39th minute as Luke Sephton put in a great cross from the left which Matt Dudley glanced just inches wide of the post with his head.

HALF-TIME:  Northwich Vics 2 AFC Liverpool 0

Vics were very much on cruise control in the second half.

Liverpool tried to exert pressure but Vics' defence was solid and restricted Liverpool to few chances whilst the midfield controlled the game.

Truth told, it wasn't the most exciting of halves, with little goalmouth action but impressive by Vics in its own way.

Liverpool's best effort came in the 73rd minute as Cheetham was forced into a great save with his legs to deny them.

That was quickly followed by Vics countering as Ash Dunn did well down the right and laid the ball across to the unmarked Chingwaro just inside the area, and he went for power rather than accuracy and the ball rattled the crossbar before being hacked away to safety by Liverpool.

Vics eased through the final 15 minutes, and it was good to see youngsters Aaron Biddle and Jack Ball get a few minutes at the end.

A comfortable, hard-working display by Vics to keep up the pressure at the top end of the table.
