HISTORY will be made on Boxing Day – if the weather permits it.

In what is sure to be a Christmas cracker, 1874 Northwich and Witton Albion will meet at Townfield tomorrow as the two neighbours go head-to-head in league competition for the first time since 1874 were formed back in 2012.

The recent cold weather has meant both sides have gone three weeks without a fixture, with 1874’s trip to Prescot Cables and Witton’s home game against Newcastle Town both falling victim to frozen pitches at the weekend.

They are both locked together in mid-table, with 1874 one place and one point better off in 10th – six points adrift of the top five. The match kicks off at 3pm.

Across town, Northwich Victoria are also due at home tomorrow for the second of three scheduled home games in nine days in the North West Counties League Premier Division

Vics, who thrashed Irlam 4-1 on Tuesday in their first game in more than a fortnight, welcome Congleton Town to the U Lock It Stadium for a 2pm kick off.

Steve Wilkes’ side also have a home game against Bury AFC on Friday, December 30, kick off 7.45pm.

Tomorrow also sees Winsford United at home, with Lee Duckworth’s side due to welcome Litherland REMYCA to Barton Stadium for a 3pm kick off.

At the same time, Barnton are on the road as Danny Moss looks for his first win in charge of the Villagers with a visit to Sandbach United.
