WITTON Albion edged out neighbours and tenants Northwich Victoria to lift the Vijay Anthwal Memorial Shield on Saturday afternoon.
Two late goals earned Jon Macken’s side the victory, with Joe Duckworth and Cameron Fogarty striking.

Here’s Peter Tonge’s report on proceedings…
VICS started off the stronger of the two teams, creating three decent chances within the first 15 minutes.
Firstly, Ash Dunn and Matt Dudley played a lovely one-two, creating room in the box but Dunn placed his shot just wide of the post.
Next it was Liam Martin who jinked inside and tried a shot but again wide of the post before Dudley nicked the ball in the box, but his effort was off target.
The match became more even and indeed Albion should have taken the lead after 25 minutes when they created a chance which fell to Joe Duckworth two yards out, but he somehow managed to sky the ball over the bar.
The rest of the half was quiet chances wise, with defences looking solid.
The second half opened spectacularly for Albion, with Cameron Fogerty striking an effort from 20 yards which struck the bar.
Vics came back with a good strike from Matty Birchall which forced the keeper into a good save, whilst from the resultant corner, Ryan Jackson powered a header goalwards but the ball was blocked.
In the 69th minute, Albion’s Mike Koral forced Vics keeper Chris Cheetham into a great save as he kept out a shot which was heading for the top corner.
The match was looking as if it was heading towards penalties but in the 85th minute, a Witton cross sliced off a Vics defender onto the bar and dropped conveniently for Duckworth to tap the ball home.
Vics tried to push forward to grab an equaliser, but Albion closed the match out in the 90th minute as the ball was played across the box and Fogerty was there to slam the ball into the net.
