TOM Vickers won his second Cheshire Merit on Sunday at the Packhorse Bowling Club in Macclesfield when he defeated Ian Howell 21-8 in the final, writes David O’Brien.

The Wharton Cons player has now qualified for the All England, which he won in 2015 and will be joined at the competition to be held in Cumbria this year by Ian.

Tom eased to victory on Sunday, winning his four games convincingly with Neal Ocego of Frodsham Red Lion recording the highest score against Tom of 13.

The victory in the merit also sees Tom qualify for the Champions of Champions.

The Mid Cheshire Federation team have their third fixture of the 2022 season on Sunday when they face East Lancs.

The home leg will be played at Rudheath Social Club and the game gets underway at 2pm.

The Mid Cheshire team currently sit on top of the third division and a victory against their opponents on Sunday will see them in prime position to take the title this season.

The Mid Cheshire Ladies County team suffered their second defeat of the season on Sunday when they lost to North Warwickshire despite a resounding win at Frodsham Red Lion.

Tamsin Birkett, Stacey Linegar and Alisha Marshall all carded 21-5 victories as the home team won their fixture by 77 shots.

However, the away team could only post three winning cards as they fell to a 94-shot loss.

The top-of-the-table clash in the Mid Cheshire Premier League on Friday saw Castle Sports travel to Wharton Cons.

The Northwich team continued their good form on the Winsford green, winning the fixture by 10 shots and they now head the table by 58 shots with just under a third of the season gone.

Frodsham Red Lion sit in third position a further 33 shots back.
