IT has been a remarkable few weeks for athlete Hannah Cowley.

The club captain of Cuddington-based Cheshire Dragons has had her fair share of injuries, but she has set the bar for her career pretty high.

Her latest success came by winning the women’s 5,000m title at the Northern Championships in Liverpool on Saturday – a feat made more incredible by the fact this was her first on-track race over the distance.

It caps an incredible list of achievements in recent weeks for Cowley, including winning the Cheshire Spring 5-mile race and setting a new 10km personal best in Alderley Edge.

Her first ever fell race also saw her finish in the top 10 in the British Inter-Counties Fell Race, and she followed that up by winning the Big Stones Fell Race.

Even though injuries limit her training and competition, Cowley’s next target is to earn a North of England vest.
