WITTON Albion’s relegation fears deepened this afternoon after another defeat.
They lost 3-0 at home to Northern Premier League Premier Division leaders Buxton to cast them further adrift in the drop zone.
Carl Macauley’s men are now 11 points adrift of safety with just seven games remaining.
Dan Cowan put the Bucks ahead early before second-half strikes from Warren Clarke and Diego DeGirolamo condemned Albion to defeat.
In the West Division, 1874 Northwich were pegged back having taken the lead at Widnes and came home with a point.
Skipper Matt Woolley had given Greens the advantage, but Alex McMillan’s leveller before the break ensured a 1-1 draw.
In the North West Counties League, Northwich Victoria came from behind to record a 3-1 win at Irlam.
Matty Birchall scored twice for Steve Wilkes’ side, with Brandon Barski also on target.
Barnton were convincing victors on the road as they won 5-0 at St Martins.
Amir Hajri and Ross Avies both scored twice for the Villagers, with Macauley Clifton also scoring.
