A STUNNING golf course in the heart of Cheshire has been given a £250,000 boost to improve its condition.

The Macdonald Portal Hotel in Tarporley has invested the sizeable sum to keep its courses in top condition ahead of the upcoming golf season.

New machinery and equipment has been bought which will enable the course management team to improve the practice facilities and condition of the hotel's three courses.

This is part of the first phase of investment taking place at the resort, with phase two set to take place later this year.

This will include bunker renovation, drainage plans, further machinery investment, path work renovations and other aspirational projects.

As well as this planned work, the Portal Hotel is also investing in the golf management team.

Budding golf enthusiasts are encouraged to apply for several available roles such as first assistant greenkeeper, seasonal greenkeepers, outside golf services team members and golf reception team members.
