Here’s a look at what’s coming up for our semi-professional football sides this weekend… WITTON Albion are back on home soil for the first time in a month tomorrow as their bid to escape relegation continues.

Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat at league leaders Buxton – the last of three consecutive away games – means Carl Macauley’s side remain six points adrift of safety in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table.

They face another side with promotion ambitions on Saturday as they welcome Whitby Town to the U Lock It Stadium.

Whitby are just three points adrift of the play-off spots but have hit a bumpy spell of form having won just one of their last six league games.

Witton have announced that 50 per cent of gate receipts from Saturday’s game will go to causes helping the people of Ukraine amid the current Russian invasion.

Meanwhile, 1874 Northwich face a tough task as they bid to end their current winless run.

They have now gone six games without a win in the NPL West Division ahead of a visit to title-chasing Marine tomorrow.

The Crosby-based side have won twice at Townfield this season – a 2-0 league win in September followed by a victory on penalties in an FA Trophy tie a month later – and have won 11 of their 14 home games this season.

Barnton are also trying to end a winless run tomorrow having gone seven games without success in all competitions Liam Page’s men are at home on Saturday as they host Stockport Town at Townfield in the North West Counties League First Division South.

There is also Sunday football in the town this week with a local derby to whet the appetite.

The U Lock It Stadium plays host as Northwich Victoria welcome neighbours Winsford United in the NWCFL Premier Division.

Vics are on a run of three games without a win or even a goal, with Steve Wilkes’ side occupying seventh spot in the table.

Winsford are five places and seven points behind having won just one of their five league fixtures since lifting the Mid-Cheshire Senior Cup last month.
