EVEN though not all of our teams are in action, it still promises to be a busy week of football around our town.

1874 Northwich are on the road in the Northern Premier League while Northwich Victoria and Barnton both have home fixtures in the North West Counties League.

Furthermore, it could well be a historic afternoon for Lostock Gralam in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up for our sides tomorrow…

1874 Northwich make the short trip to Bootle in the NPL West for a game that was scheduled to be played on January 8 but was postponed for Covid-19 reasons.

They do so looking to end a winless run that now stands at five matches following a 2-0 reverse at Ramsbottom United in midweek.

That result also made it back-to-back away losses for Greens, who before then had not been beaten away from Townfield in the league since August.

They will also be aiming to avenge a 5-0 defeat in the reverse fixture back in October.

Bootle also lost in midweek – 3-2 at Glossop North End – but have won seven of their past nine fixtures and still harbour faint hopes of a play-off place.

Meanwhile, Northwich Victoria are also aiming for a return to winning ways as they welcome Runcorn Town to the U Lock It Stadium for a NWCFL Premier Division fixture.

Steve Wilkes’ side go into the game having suffered back-to-back defeats, the latest being a 1-0 home loss to Prestwich Heys last time out.

They face a Runcorn side deep in relegation trouble – they sit second bottom, nine points adrift of safety, but four of their five league wins this season have come away from home.

In the NWCFL First Division South, Barnton welcome Cheadle Town to Townfield with the aim of ending their own winless run.

The Villagers have gone five games in all competitions without a win but face a play-off chasing Cheadle side that have won their last three matches, scoring 16 goals in the process.

Lostock Gralam have the chance to reach the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup final tomorrow and keep alive their hopes of lifting the trophy for the first time since 1968.

They host Birkenhead side Mersey Royal in the semi-finals, with the winners facing either Stockport Georgians or Ashville in the final.

However, the Grey Lambs are tasked with seeing off a side who are unbeaten in the West Cheshire League’s top flight this season.

The first teams of Winnington Avenue 94 and Hartford FC are both at home in the Cheshire Football League as they take on Maine Road Reserves and Newton-le-Willows respectively.

Both clubs’ reserve teams are also in action, with Hartford travelling to Daten while Winnington Avenue visit Avon Villa Reserves
