JUST a minute into his return from a three-month injury lay-off, Charlie Fisher was on target for Winnington Avenue 94 Reserves.
He volleyed home the opener and set up the second goal for Will Bentley as Gary Lee Jamieson’s side won 3-1 at neighbours Hartford FC Reserves.
Bentley then doubled his tally after the break after Ryan Yearsley had pulled one back for the hosts.
Jamieson says he can see the confidence returning to his table-topping side after having their 100 per cent record ended last month by Avon Villa Reserves – the team they face on Saturday in the league cup.
“The lads have reacted well today having our noses bloodied – we've found a resolve in our performances again,” he said.
“It was a pleasure watching the confidence coming back as we kept pushing for the goal that would have made it far more comfortable.
“A great goalkeeping performance from Hartford stopped it being a bigger score.”
Hartford FC Reserves move on to face their Daten counterparts in the league cup on Saturday.
The Winnington Avenue 94 first team are back in action this weekend as they welcome Maine Road Reserves to Moss Farm on Saturday while at the same time, Hartford’s first team are at home to Newton-le-Willows.
