AN early goal condemned Witton Albion to defeat at home to league leaders Matlock Town this afternoon.

Reece Kendall scored the game's only goal after 14 minutes to extend their lead at the top of the NPL Premier table to four points.

By contrast, Witton remain in the bottom two as they could not capitalise on the teams either side of them - Nantwich and Grantham - having their games postponed.

In the West Division, 1874 Northwich were beaten 4-2 at home by Workington, who climb to the top of the league as a result.

Jamie Reed scored twice as 1874 twice pulled themselves back from behind, but the Cumbrians came through victorious.
