2022 may well be a trophy-laden year for Lostock Gralam FC.

Having moved a step closer to lifting one piece of silverware on Saturday, they could put themselves into the final of another competition in their next game.

Saturday saw them defy the wet weather to win 4-1 at Crewe FC to reach the semi-finals of the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup – a trophy they last won back in 1963.

They are also the only Cheshire Football League side left in the competition and will face either Stockport Georgians or Poulton Vics – who are due to clash on Saturday – in the last four.

Five minutes after the restart, Carl Harvey's corner was spilled into the net by the Crewe goalkeeper to put the visitors in full command, but the hosts were not going down without a fight and reduced the deficit thanks to Josh Lane's goal.

However, victory was sealed in fine fashion thanks to Liam Collins' superb curling free kick.

On Saturday, they will aim to reach the Mid-Cheshire FA Cup final but to do that, they will have to beat neighbours Winnington Avenue 94 at Moss Farm.

Winnington go into the game full of confidence, with Saturday seeing them 3-1 at home to Newton Athletic in CFL League One.

Bailey Sherlock scored twice before the break for the hosts, with substitute Joseph Lanceley adding a third in the closing stages.

The club's reserves are also looking for a spot in the final on Saturday, but Gary Lee Jamieson's men face the tough prospect of beating a Middlewich Town side that plies its trade four divisions above them in the CFL pyramid.

Having made it nine wins from nine in Reserve League Two by comfortably beating Golborne Sports Reserves on Saturday, however, they will fancy themselves.

"While it wasn't our most clinical display, its probably our most controlled performance this season," Jamieson said after Joe Duckworth's hat-trick earned them victory in their first game since before Christmas.

"Our keeper David Twigg not having a shot to save in 90 minutes proved how dominant we were – a great return after four weeks off over Christmas."
