MARKELL Foulds' red card proved costly for 1874 Northwich as they started 2022 with a home defeat in front of a record crowd.
Foulds was dismissed in the second half with the scores level, with Iwan Murray scoring the winner for Runcorn Linnets to seal a 2-1 win at Townfield.
Greens had opened the scoring inside the first minute through Jake Parker, with Ryan Brooke equalising for the visitors.
The attendance of 645 was the club's highest ever gate for a league fixture, with the previous record of 563 also coming in a game against Linnets back in 2014, when 74 played their home games at Winsford's Barton Stadium.
Record breakers! Today’s attendance of 645 beats the Townfield ground record of 554, but also breaks our all time home league record of 563 set in 2014.
