SATURDAY’S football will – weather permitting of course – see Witton Albion’s long-awaited return to action.

The inclement weather has put paid to their past two fixtures, with away games at Atherton Collieries and Buxton postponed.

This weekend, they return to Wincham Park for their first game in three weeks with Morpeth Town the visitors.

Inactivity has seen Carl Macauley’s side slip down the Northern Premier League Premier Division table – they are currently 17th.

Morpeth are one of the teams to have overtaken them and arrive in Northwich in fine form – they are unbeaten in their past nine matches in all competitions.

In the West Division, 1874 Northwich will look to pick up where they left off as they travel to Kidsgrove Athletic – the team directly behind them in the table.

Confidence is high after their remarkable 7-3 win over Mossley last time out, with their last away game seeing them score five at Trafford.

Their hosts are on a three-match winless run in the league but already own a victory over 1874 this season – a 3-0 win at Townfield back in August.

Meanwhile, Northwich Victoria will be aiming to halt a three-game losing run when they travel to Ashton Athletic in the North West Counties League Premier Division.

However, they have good recent history against Saturday’s hosts – Steve Wilkes’ side won 7-1 when the sides met at Wincham Park last month.

After last weekend’s meeting with Skelmersdale United was postponed, Winsford United are back in action as they welcome Vauxhall Motors to Barton Stadium.

Lee Duckworth’s side have only taken one point from their past two league games, but the visitors are currently on a seven-match winless run in all competitions.

They did, however, beat Blues 4-1 in the reverse fixture back in September.

Barnton have the chance to climb the First Division South table as they welcome Abbey Hulton United to Townfield.

With the visitors two points ahead of them in the table, the Villagers will climb at least one place with victory.
