ANOTHER busy day lies ahead for our football teams, although two scheduled games are off.

Witton Albion were due back in action after an unintended two-week break – they were set to make the short trip to Atherton Collieries in the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division but the hosts' pitch nis waterlogged.

Carl Macauley’s men were due to visit Buxton last weekend, but heavy snow forced that game to be postponed.

In the West Division, it is “Bring A Mate Day” at 1874 Northwich as they welcome Mossley to Townfield.

On the field, 1874 saw their growing momentum stunted by a 3-0 home loss to Widnes last time out, which put a stop to a run of four unbeaten league games.

Their play-off chasing visitors have won six of their seven league away games, but that sole loss was their last road trip against Prescot Cables and they arrive at Townfield having lost their past three games.

Meanwhile, Northwich Victoria will look to shake off Tuesday’s Mid-Cheshire Senior Cup semi-final loss to Winsford United as they return to North West Counties League action.

They welcome Charnock Richard to Wincham Park in a game in which goals are near enough guaranteed.

Both sides are among the top scorers in the Premier Division – Charnock lead the way with 67 while Vics are third on 48 – but are also the two sides in the top half with the leakiest defences.

That is perhaps typified by the reverse fixture between the two, which Charnock won 5-2 in October.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Winsford United's clash with league leaders Skelmersdale United is postponed due to no water supply at Barton Stadium, the result of a burst pipe nearby that has also left residential properties with their water having been turned off.

In the First Division South, Barnton aim to build on their valuable win at Ellesmere Rangers last time out when they travel to Cammell Laird.

The Villagers’ 2-0 victory last weekend allowed them to put more breathing space between themselves and the bottom three and they will leapfrog their hosts with another win.

The sides met at Townfield just three weeks ago, with Cammell Laird emerging 2-1 winners.
