DESPITE falling behind three times, Winnington Park Hockey Club’s men’s firsts edged a thriller at Eirias on Saturday.
A second goal of the game from Chris Moss saw them return from Wales with a 4-3 win having displayed superb resilience.
Matty Howard and Dave Thompson were also on the scoresheet, with Gus Micklewright earning the man of the match award.
The thirds were much more dominant in their home game against Lymm and were in control from the moment John Stackhouse put them ahead.
Liam McKee, Matty Entwistle and George Gray also netted while man of the match went to Rob Doel.
The women’s seconds were involved in an eight-goal thriller as they shared the spoils with Warrington.
They trailed 1-0 and 3-1 but managed to drag themselves back into contention before Sarah Smith put them ahead for the first time, only for Warrington to equalise late on.
Helen Cartin, Em Taylor and Sarah Kinder also scored.
The women’s firsts were just edged out by Northop Hall, who won a gripping game 4-3.
Player of the match Helen Fowler, twice, and Nicola Hall were on the scoresheet for Park.
Meanwhile, the club’s youngsters were also in action with the Beavers winning 5-0 at home to Wilmslow.
