WINNINGTON Park Hockey Club's men's second team kept up their perfect start to the season – but they had to do it the hard way.

They recovered from a half-time deficit to win 3-1 at Whitchurch and make it six wins out of six.

Having conceded inside the first 10 minutes, Park trailed 1-0 at the break but a change in formation sparked a turnaround.

John Stackhouse netted twice in the second half either side of man of the match Dan Connah's short corner goal to secure victory.

Meanwhile, the thirds were 7-3 victors away at Golborne, with six of their goals coming in a riotous first half.

Liam McKee's hat-trick and strikes from Jonno Fowler, Ryan Whalley and club chairman Tony Taig netted before the break and although the hosts got themselves back into the game briefly, Fowler's second goal put an end to their hopes.

The men's firsts came off second best at home to their Golborne counterparts despite hauling back a two-goal deficit.

Angus Paddison and Oli Wilkes struck to bring the score to 2-2, but the visitors eventually ran out 4-2 winners.

There was late agony for the women's firsts, who saw a half-time lead turned into a last-gasp 2-1 defeat at home to Alderley Edge.

Captain Rhona Loggie put Park ahead at the break, but the visitors cancelled the lead out just after the interval and despite goalkeeper Helen Hogben saving a penalty flick, a goal with the last touch of the game consigned the hosts to defeat.

The women's seconds were on the back foot from the start away at Triton, with the hosts running out 11-0 winners.

Despite the scoreline, Izzy Robinson was named player of the match for her non-stop running and commitment.
