BARNTON go into a run of three successive home games in a good place.

Saturday saw them extend their unbeaten sequence to four games in all competitions with a 1-1 draw at Sandbach United, who had five wins and only one defeat from their seven league home games going into the weekend.

They are due to host Maine Road tomorrow night, kick off 7.45pm, before welcoming Cammell Laird to Townfield on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

A late Ross Avies strike was enough to secure the Villagers a deserved point away at the weekend.

Liam Page’s men produced a strong second half performance to bounce back from going behind after Bobbie McDonnell had given the home side the lead just before half time.

It was a deserved lead at the break for Sandbach, who had much more of the play and were denied a second goal deep into added time at the end of the first half when Barnton captain Will Avon was on hand to clear a certain goal.

Page changed things up during an encouraging second-half display, with debutant Alex Bennett causing the home side a number of issues along with fellow sub Jordan Monthe.

It was Avies who kept his cool to level the game up, though, giving his side a much-deserved point against a very good Sandbach side.
