THERE were mixed fortunes for our sides in the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup at the weekend.

Lostock Gralam’s run continues after they saw off Govan Athletic 3-2 thanks to a Ryan Jackson brace and a further goal from Myles Wadey.

Unfortunately, they will not be joined in the fourth round by Winnington Avenue 1994 as they succumbed to higher-league opposition in losing 2-0 at Vauxhall Motors Reserves.

Back in the Cheshire Football League, Middlewich Town's winless run stretched to five matches as they drew 1-1 at home to Poynton, with Ste Hughes on target for the Witches.

In Reserve League One, Middlewich Town Reserves' lost 3-1 to their Poynton counterparts, with Sam Wakefield scoring Middlewich's only goal.

Things were much better for Winnington Avenue 1994 Reserves, however, who made it seven wins from seven in Reserve League Two by thrashing Crewe FC Reserves 6-0 at Moss Farm.

Callum Herbert scored twice with John Buckley, Shane Davies, George Kirby and Jaymie Roberts also on the scoresheet.

"It was a solid performance in all aspects of our game," manager Gary Lee Jamieson said.

"We ensured our back door is always shut to give us the foundations to allow our free flowing attack to do what they do best.

"We will just keep plugging away now and and take it game by game."
