CALLUM Saunders was in the goals once again as he helped Witton Albion continue their climb up the Northern Premier League Premier Division table last night.

The striker scored the only goal of the game as Carl Macauley's men beat Ashton United 1-0 at the U Lock It Stadium for their third victory in a row.

Saunders was on hand to convert from close range after James Lawrie found him with a free kick to score his sixth goal in nine appearances since joining from Nantwich Town.

The result moves Albion up to 14th in the table as their fortunes continue to improve after a poor start to the campaign.

They will aim to make it four straight victories when they travel to Scarborough Athletic on Saturday, kick off 3pm.

Meanwhile, 1874 Northwich co-managers Paul Bowyer and Wayne Goodison celebrated their 200th game in charge in style.

They watched on as Greens ended an eight-game wait for a victory as they were 1-0 winners at City of Liverpool last night.

A first-half goal from Joe Woolley proved to be the difference-maker as he thundered a strike into the top corner having been found by a corner.

1874 jump up to 14th in the NPL West Division table ahead of Saturday's home game against Colne, kick off 3pm.
