EMILY Martin and Sam Taylor continue to shatter personal bests and club records in the colours of Weaver Valley Cycling Club.

Both raced at the BDCA 100-mile time trial in Etwall, where Martin knocked a staggering 23 minutes off her own club record despite being hampered by foot cramp after 75 miles.

On a good day for fast times, she finished in 3hours 50mins 34secs to finish second to winner Frances Owen of Fibrax Wrexham.

Meanwhile, Taylor's time of 3hours 35mins 20secs was more than nine minutes quicker than the previous club record as he averaged 29.7 miles per hour in a race won by Tom Hutchinson of Team Bottrill.

At the weekend, Martin and Taylor travelled south for the Cambridge CC 25-mile time trial on another fast course, with Martin aiming to improve on her fifth-place position in the CTT national British Best All Round (BBAR) competition.

She did exactly that – her time of 54mins 41secs was more than two minutes quicker than her previous best and set a new Weaver Valley club record as she moved up to fourth in the BBAR standings.

Martin finished third in the race, with A3CRG's Angela Carpenter taking home the win.

Taylor equalled a club record with his display and beat his previous best time by 40 seconds as he clocked 50mins 33secs, which was good enough for seventh place in a race won by Marcus Christie of Ballymena RC.
