IT is clear that gymnastics has been sorely missed during lockdown.

When indoor leisure was able to reopen on Monday as part of the latest easing of Covid restrictions, happy gymnasts flooded back to their clubs.

Indeed, the demand is so high that Moss Farm-based Cheshire Gymnastics have now decided to open seven days a week.

"The demand over the last four weeks as we have prepared to reopen our doors has been incredible and we’ve recruited and appointed two new coaches," head coach Mark Hudson said.

"We are almost at full capacity so if anybody is thinking of getting involved at Cheshire Gymnastics, now is the time to get these last few spaces that are available."

Gymnasts return to Cheshire Gymnastics at Moss Farm

Cheshire Gymnastics have opened up their space to Joan Pierpoint Dance School, who were in need of studio space after the recent floods.

Over at Hartford School of Gymnastics, too, children have been happy to be back doing the sport they love.

"We are back open and have a lot of very happy gymnasts and coaches in our club," senior coach Michelle Oakes said.

"We are really busy having our club members back in the gym working hard.

"We have welcomed a lot of new members too, with more booking in to start over the next few weeks.

"Our Zoom sessions kept our gymnasts busy during the lockdowns, but nothing compares to actually working with our gymnasts face to face and seeing them enjoy themselves on all of the apparatus.

"That was one of the things our gymnasts said they missed most – we give all of our recreational and squad gymnasts the opportunity to work on all Olympic pieces of apparatus every time they are in the gym with us.

"We are really looking forward to the next few months of being back in the gym together and learning new skills with our gymnasts."
