WITTON Albion now know the date they will return to league action.

Last night, the Northern Premier League confirmed their 2021-22 campaign will kick off on Saturday, August 14.

With the last two campaigns being cut short due to Covid-19, the hope is next season will reach its natural conclusion, with the possibility of playing until the end of May if required.

Albion's last Premier Division game before the 2020-21 campaign was curtailed was on October 24 last year – a 2-1 win over Atherton Collieries at Wincham Park.

After an impressive start, Carl Macauley's side were fifth in the table when the season ended.
