NORTHWICH racer Ian Loggie took time out from his British GT Championship over the weekend to take part in the GT Cup at Donington Park.

Ian was competing in the GTH Class in his In2Racing Porsche Cayman GT4, and with this car being quite a bit different to his normal Mercedes AMG GT3, that didn’t stop him pushing hard. In the first practice session, Ian was 6th quickest with a time of 1:12:265, and with the cars going immediately into qualifying, Ian was fully up to speed ready for the session.

With the rain holding off, Ian managed to get 9 laps in, but unfortunately he exceeded track limits on two occasions and had those times wiped off. He finished the session 13th with a time of 1:12:211.

In the sprint race, lining up on Row 7, Ian maintained position off the start and slowly gained a few positions after a great battle with a gaggle of Ginettas. Ian came home 9th overall, third in the GTH Class. In the pitstop race which was over an hour, Ian showed his class and brought the No 6 Porsche home in outright 5th, but more importantly, in first place in the GTH Class.

Sunday would see Ian quality in 8th overall, 3rd in the GTH Class. Into the first race of the day, and with conditions dry, the In2Racing Porsche again had a decent start but couldn’t quiet get the better of the Newbridge Motorsport Aston Martin and the JMH McLaren and had to settle for third in class and 9th overall.

In the final race of the day, Ian would go one better in the endurance race, taking 2nd in class and 8th overall.

It is now a return to Mercedes to finish the British GT Championship.
