STEVE Wilkes paid tribute to his Northwich Victoria side after they recorded their first league win of the season today.
Longridge Town were beaten 2-0 at Wincham Park, with Dave Sherlock and Ashley Dunn on the scoresheet for Vics.
“We gave them a game plan to work to and they’ve worked to it 100 per cent,” Wilkes said “When you get chance to go and watch a team, you pick up their strengths and weaknesses.
“Longridge are the best footballing team in the league so we tried to stop them from playing “For the first 20 minutes, Longridge played well and we had to weather the storm.
“Once we got in front, we did very, very well.
“They changed their shape in the second half but we kept ours and I think every single person who went on the field for us today deserves praise.”
Vics took the lead just after the half-hour mark when Sherlock – brought into the starting line-up today – finished from the edge of the box after Matty Clarke had won the ball back.
Dunn nodded in a second early in the second half after being set up by Joe Camozzi.
