Touch rugby or touch, as it is known, is a minimal contact sport that is now played worldwide by men, women and children of all ages.

The game emphasises running, agility and the traditional rugby ball handling skills passing and catching.

It looks very similar to rugby but without the tackling, scrummaging, kicking and the like, while the aim of the game is to score tries.

Touch rugby is played for fun and in a friendly environment for both men and women of all abilities and ages.

Whether it’s about honing your fitness or having a great time exercising as a group, this is social fitness at its best. Those who have never played rugby or touch before can learn the game and skills within a few sessions.

At Winnington Park touch rugby is played on a social level with occasional fixtures or participation in touch rugby tournaments.

We have an annual club touch rugby tournament for all club members. Social events and activities take place and it is a great way to make new friends.

Our touch rugby section has been active for a number of years and we are always looking for additional players.

Touch rugby is played all year round and takes place at Burrows Hill every Thursday from 7pm to 8.30pm and on a Sunday morning from 8am to 9.30am. Anyone interested can come along to one or both of the weekly sessions.
