INJURY-depleted Winnington Park went down to an 87-0 defeat by Leigh.

The writing was on the wall after two minutes and the travelling supporters were in for bad afternoon as Leigh dominated in all areas of the pitch and began to run in try after try without anything back from the Park side.

Leigh had a strong powerful pack that continued to run at Park then off load to their backs to score.

Park’s tackling was woeful and by half time Leigh had scored six tries in a 40-0 scoreline.

Leigh started the second half confident and playing attractive rugby.

The tries continued to be scored with a further seven before the referee blew for full time with one of the worst defeats in Park’s history losing

Some tireless work by the back row forwards Matt Treacy and Gary Dykes was in vain and another player to the injury list Dan Williams with damaged to his elbow.

Charlie Smith, playing scrum half, showed promise but a tough game to step up to first team rugby.

Park have a tough battle on their hands with only nine games left and fighting to stay in this league.

They have a long list of injured players and the depth in the squad is limited so really need some players to step up to the challenge and support the club in staying up in this league.
