WINNINGTON Park went down 36-15 to Aspull in a tough game on a very boggy pitch.

The home side took control early on, cashing in on mistakes, to score three tries.

Park composed themselves and began playing some good rugby resulting in a great run by Luke Canning. He ran half the length of the pitch before recycling the ball for the backs to string some passes together to send Matt Treacy in at the corner.

Elliott Alston came off injured to be replaced by Joe Cook.

And it got worse, with Cook coming off with a shoulder injury after the home side had scored a fourth to make it 22-5.

Leaving Park with a uphill battle in the second half.

Park started the second half more positively and captain Dave Cross went over the line.

The injury woes continued with Luke Canning being replaced.

Aspull came straight back and a fifth try ensued.

Aspull had a player yellow carded for not rolling away. Park kicked into the corner, won the line out and Gary Dykes drove over the line.

Aspull went down to 13 players after another player was given the yellow card for not rolling away in the tackle.

Park’s poor kick failed to find touch allowing Aspull to take advantage to score in the corner. The conversion was kicked bringing the game to an end with a disappointing scoreline.

The forwards played well with some outstanding tackling by the back row of Dan Williams, Matt Treacy and Gary Dykes.

The front row competed well against a much heavier opposition but too many basic mistakes by the young Park side cost them.

The team has put themselves under pressure and need to start getting the results otherwise will be fighting to stay up in this tough league.
