IT was a busy afternoon for our football teams as Witton Albion, 1874 Northwich and Northwich Victoria were all in action.

Witton's excellent form continued as they came from behind to record a 3-1 win over Grantham Town to move to within a point of the BetVictor Northern Premier Division play-offs.

Carl Macauley's men fell behind as Brad McGowan put the Gingerbreads in front after just 12 minutes.

Their lead lasted just seven minutes, however, as Kyle Sambor equalised for the hosts.

Once Danny McKenna put Witton ahead on the half-hour mark, however, the hosts did not look back.

They had to wait until injury time to seal victory, though, as Tom Owens added a third goal in injury time.

Meanwhile, 1874 needed penalties to get past Rylands in the Macron Cup.

They won 3-2 in the shoot-out after a last-gasp equaliser denied them the chance to win in normal time.

Taylor Kennerley had put the Greens in front with just 10 minutes remaining but Lewis Buckley's leveller sent the tie to spot kicks.

Vics will be cursing themselves after letting a 2-0 lead slip at Charnock Richard.

Tom Powell and Tom Kilifin had put Steve Wilkes' side in control but the hosts fought back to secure a 2-2 draw
