NOVEMBER was a good month for Witton Albion. Unbeaten in the league, it means we are looking forward to the festive period full of positivity and optimism.

Carl Macauley’s side were unbeaten in league fixtures during the month, winning twice and picking up two hard-earned draws.

The manner of the performances has been really impressive.

We’ve scored 10 goals in those fixtures and there have been some real crackers in there .

Impressive and comprehensive victories over Mickleover Sports and Scarborough Athletic were backed up with really gritty performances and taking a point against both FC United of Manchester and Hyde United.

Hard work, determination and no shortage of quality is probably the most apt description I can provide the team for the past month and I’m certain they will keep going into December and beyond in the same fashion.

Last Saturday’s game at Hyde was one where we had to show plenty of grit and determination, against a decent side.

After a fairly even first 45 minutes, the home team dominated possession in the second half and made it difficult for Albion to get much of a foothold in proceedings.

A few little knocks didn’t help our cause, with the likes of Liam Goulding having to limp off, but the lads battled on and it was a very well-earned and hard-fought point won on the road.

If you can win your home games and pick up draws and get a few wins here and there away from home, you won’t go far wrong and Witton have been doing just that so far this season.

The lads have put themselves in a really good position just behind the play-off positions and have shown that they are very capable against some of the best teams in the league.

We’ll soon be at the halfway stage , meaning most teams have played each other. That begins to give you a fair assessment of how things might pan out come the end of the season.

We are currently in a really good position, which is huge credit to the management and players.

It’s back to home comforts as we host Grantham Town at Wincham Park on Saturday.

Again, it should be a good game, so please get down and support the lads if you can.
