NORTHWICH Rugby Club's seconds, who started the day second from bottom, pulled off a fine 31-14 win at promotion chasing Didsbury Toc H to climb up a spot.

With so much at stake a keenly contested game was anticipated and it lived up to all expectations.

Two good teams going out to win and neither prepared to give the opposition even a blade of grass.

Keller slotted the penalty kick for the first points of the afternoon.

The second half was closely contested as the first, but Northwich pressure eventually told.

Tom Clarke, now playing number 8, from a scrum deep in the Toc H 22 picked up and had the pace and upper body strength to wriggle this way through the defenders and over the line.

Keller converted and with it being well into the last quarter, Toc H were now chasing the game.

The hosts threw everything they had to give and a half break on the half way and a good kick down field, they had the Blacks scrambling defence in a lot of trouble.

A horrible bounce followed and then Toc H got the ball to score.

Tom Clarke scored a hat-trick of tries and appears well on the road to full fitness since his early season injury.

New recruit Gent had a solid performance on his 2nd XV debut, Richard Hart and Kenny Rogers being the other try scorers.
