WITTON Albion Netball Club have come a long way in seven years.

And they are now celebrating receiving some financial support.

"I set up the club in 2012 as a Witton Albion football fan and they were happy for us to set a team up under their banner," said club club chairman Siân Butters.

"It was primarily to give local women a place to stay fit and active which also offered a great social aspect.

"We started as a group of friends who trained outdoors in the rain and have since grown into an established club with four teams competing across different divisions within the South Cheshire Premier Netball League, ranging from Division One through to the top flight Premiership.

"We have grown so much we were struggling to continue to develop without a sponsor.

"Within our seven years, we have struggled to receive any form of funding or sponsorship – a regular occurrence in women’s sport, particularly netball.

"Receiving support from Your Sports Therapist is huge for the club and has helped to purchase kits for our four teams and will offer both the club and our sponsor opportunities going forward.

"We are super passionate about empowering women, especially in the local community and believe our club is a great example of this."
