THE battle at the top of the Mid-Cheshire Table Tennis League Division 2 continued, with Cobras in sterling form, with Geoff Mee, Dave Myles and Pete Battison all unbeaten in a 10-0 win away at bottom-of-the-table Rangers.

Daresbury’s Lab Rats kept up the pressure and are only 1-point behind after a 9-1 win at Kinetics, whose only point came in a Ciprian Mihalache 3-2 victory over Phil Lingwood.

Elsewhere in the Division, Romans won 7-3 away against the junior side Lostock Smashers, for whom Alex Lyons was undefeated.

Vikings complete the round up with another away win ­— 6-4 against the Sticklebacks.

Neil McGrath was man-of-the-match, going unbeaten for the Vikings, who came from 4-3 down to complete their victory.

Meanwhile in the top flight, Lemmings fought their way to a 6-4 win over Bears, with Dave Etchells winning all three and Mark Darlington 2, and the two combined to win the doubles.

Raptors had their best win of the season, with Simon Lafferty starring in a 10-0 at home to Winsford.

Wreckers, with John Jestin playing as sub, romped to an 8-2 win over Manweb, with Jestin and Charlie Ostapski both untroubled by the electricians.

George Abbotts Butchers maintained their lead at the top with a 7-3 win over Hawks, while the Sparks completed a 6-4 win over Holmes Chapel’s Victoria Club, with unbeaten Ray Worthington in top form and ably supported by John Perry.
